When we launched She Moves in Darlaston, at the beginning of February we honestly didn’t know what to expect.
Within a short period of time, over 80 women signed up.
Eighty.
That number alone told us something important — women 40+ are ready.
Ready to move. Ready to feel better. Ready to prioritise themselves.
But as we know in real life… signing up and showing up are two separate decisions.
The Reality We Need to Talk About
When the start date arrived, not everyone took up their place.
Some women faced genuine health-related barriers — joint pain, flare-ups, back issues, changes in work patterns — and had to give up their space.
Others quietly stepped back.
And that’s okay. Everyone is ready in their own time.
Today, we have a core group of 30–35 incredible women who show up consistently. Week after week. Rain or shine. Tired or busy.
And due to continued interest, we will soon be opening a few additional spaces for women currently on our waiting list.
What Changed in Just 4 Weeks?
By the end of February, something beautiful happened.
Women began saying:
- “I’m sleeping better.”
- “My posture feels different.”
- “My back pain has eased.”
- “I feel taller.”
- “I didn’t realise how weak my core was!”
Then, after the seventh session, we heard something even more powerful:
“It’s getting too easy!”
Women who initially wondered whether they could manage gentle movement were now ready for more challenge.
That’s growth.
That’s confidence.
That’s strength returning.
She Moves Is More Than Just a Pilates Class
She Moves for Women 40+ is not just about exercise.
It’s about growth.
It’s about strength.
It’s about balance.
It’s about resilience.
It’s about reconnecting with ourselves — physically and mentally.
And now… we are ready for the March Challenge.
Why Pilates Is So Powerful for Women 40+
As we move into our 40s and beyond, our bodies change. Hormones shift. Recovery can take longer. Stiffness increases. Sleep can suffer. Core strength often declines.
Pilates is not about jumping around or punishing your body.
It’s about intentional strength and controlled movement.
Regular Pilates can:
✔ Improve posture and spinal alignment
✔ Strengthen deep core muscles (protecting the lower back)
✔ Reduce joint stiffness
✔ Support pelvic floor health
✔ Improve balance and help prevent falls
✔ Increase flexibility safely
✔ Support better sleep
✔ Reduce stress and cortisol levels
✔ Improve body awareness and confidence
Unlike high-impact exercise, Pilates works with your body — not against it.
For many of our women, this is the first time they have exercised in years. Some were inactive. Some are managing chronic pain. Some simply hadn’t put themselves first for decades.
Now they are getting stronger. Taller. More aware.
The Power of Consistency
Not perfection.
Not extreme intensity.
Not “no days off.”
Just showing up.
Thirty women moving consistently together has created something bigger than exercise.
It’s accountability.
It’s community.
It’s laughter during core work.
It’s shared groans during planks — and the familiar “clicking and clacking” during stretches.
It’s motivation that comes from seeing others putting in the same effort.
And that’s why She Moves works.
If You’re 40+ and Wondering If It’s Too Late…
Today is the Perfect Day to Start.
To improve your posture.
To reduce pain.
To sleep better.
To feel strong.
Reconnect with the woman you already are.

Love having you with us Zahida!
Absolutely loving the classes, it helps me move my body, get more mobility and strength. Additionally is helps with my self care- twice a week this is my priority. The added benefit of a great community- priceless. So grateful for this experience.
Self Care Requires our commitment! Love that you are making time for yourself
I really enjoy attending this group. The ladies are all so friendly and the instructor is really lovely and very good at her job. I leave feeling exhausted but mentally and emotionally I feel positive and accomplished. Although I struggled at the beginning I feel as the weeks have gone on I am doing surprisingly better than I thought.
I Love that Tracey! So glad you are noticing the difference already!
I’m absolutely delighted with these Pilates classes and so happy I was able to join.
A year ago I had spinal surgery, and since then I had been experiencing painful leg cramps every single night. I would wake up several times because of them. After just a short time attending these classes, I’ve noticed a huge improvement — for the past week I’ve been sleeping through the night because the cramps have completely stopped.
The atmosphere is lovely, supportive and welcoming, and the instructor is truly fantastic, professional, attentive and encouraging.
Thank you so much for creating such a positive and healing space!
That is SO Amazing to hear Zanna!
Fantastic helped me with strength and relaxation also meet new people
I’m very grateful to have the opportunity of attending Pilates, as affordability is an issue for me. All the ladies are welcoming and friendly. Whilst some aspects of the class I find challenging I’m hoping to become much better in the coming months. I’m already finding my posture has improved, along with my mental health. Thank you for providing these classes Sylvia
